Congratulations to Tom on winning a Grammy for mastering the 2012 Album of the Year “21″ by Adele!
Tom Coyne dominated mastering for Dance and R&B throughout the 1980s and continues to build his reputation as one of the foremost R&B and Pop mastering engineers today.
In 1989 Tom moved to the Hit Factory. It was there that he established himself as a Hip-Hop and R&B expert at a time when those genres were enjoying explosive sales. He quickly rose through the mastering ranks and began to earn a reputation around town for knowing how to get the best sound onto a record’s grooves.
In 1994 Tom moved to Sterling Sound to spearhead its expansion into R&B/Hip-Hop/Urban Music. In early 1998 Tom, along with colleagues Ted Jensen, Greg Calbi and Murat Aktar, bought Sterling Sound from its founder, Lee Hulko.
A few of his credits include Adele, Pink, Beyonce, Usher, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Destiny’s Child, Jordan Sparks, Elliot Yamin, Wonder Girls and Laura Izibor.
